It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night… (Psalm 92:1-2)
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)
One of the reasons for taking time to give thanks is that you have more time to reflect and be intentional for what you give thanks to God for, and then sometimes, you might even be surprised by what God brings to your mind.
I am trying to take my time and to be very intentional regarding what I am giving thanks for during this Thanksgiving season. And honestly, what I am sharing with you today caught me a little bit by surprise. I was planning on doing my next Thanksgiving blog post about relationships, but the Lord then brought to my mind and to my heart, the blessing of His Word!
I am so thankful to God for the gift of His Word, and that includes the Bible, and His Son, “the Word”, and then also that God is still a speaking God! Each one of these is so important and so powerful and such a blessing. Thank You, Lord!
The Bible is so important for helping us know what God has done. God created everything which exists. We come to know God’s heart and His plans and His purposes. History truly is “His Story!” The Bible helps us know this. Then it is interesting because God’s Word helps us know Jesus and what God has done for us through the amazing gift of His Son. Yet, at the same time, Jesus helps us to know God.
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
Then in John 1:18 in the NLT says, “No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is Himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.”
God wants us to know Him and His heart and His ways and His purposes, so His Word is so very important. Then through the Bible and through Jesus, we can learn to tune our hearts to God’s voice so that we can live in a more personal relationship with Him moment by moment and day by day.
In John 10:27, Jesus said, “My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.”
This is all such a wonderful and a marvelous thing how this all works together. I am so thankful to God for His goodness and His graciousness to us. I am so thankful to God for His Word: for the Bible, for Jesus, and that God is still a speaking God. I pray that He will tune my heart to know His voice and to love and appreciate each aspect of His Word to the fullest degree possible!
Thank You, Almighty God, for Your Word!!!
