In my last post, I shared that it was bothering me how all the inflatables displayed in the yards in neighborhood have nothing to do with Jesus and the real meaning of Christmas… Santa Clauses, a pretty cool Santa snow globe, snow men, nutcracker soldiers, Star Wars Christmas, camping Christmas, a cactus, a dinosaur, a boot, a Snoopy display…. ad infinitum….
I knew that I was going to be traveling some last week, so I made me a Christmas iTunes playlist with several different styles of music, but also trying to keep to songs that focus on Jesus! Today and tomorrow, I want to share the lyrics to a couple of songs by Go Fish, a Christian group you probably haven’t heard about.
This lyrics which I will share with you today are from the song entitled, “Christmas with a Capital C”, and it is my idea of how I respond to all the “tragically mis-directed inflatables.”
Christmas with a Capital C - by Go Fish
It's called Christmas!!!
Well, I went to the coffee shop to get myself a mocha.
The lady at the counter said "Happy Holidays";
I said, "Thanks lady, I am pretty happy,
But there's only one holiday that makes me feel that way."
And It's called Christmas, what more can I say?
It's about the birth of Christ
And you can't take that away.
You can call it something else
But that's not what it will be
It's called Christmas with a capital "C."
God's got a law, and we pretty much destroyed it.
We're gonna get judged, there's no way to avoid it.
But Jesus came down to take the punishment for me.
He did it for you too, so maybe you can see…
Why It's called Christmas, what more can I say?
It's about the birth of Christ
And you can't take that away
You can call it something else
But that's not what it will be
It's called Christmas with a capital "C."
Salvation is found in nobody else. There is no other name by which you must be saved. The Gospel is true even if you don’t believe it. I am not ashamed of the name above all names.
Why It's called Christmas, what more can I say?
It's about the birth of Christ
And you can't take that away
You can call it something else
But that's not what it will be
It's called Christmas with a capital "C."
This song is a bit of a sassy song, but I like that about it.
I would encourage you to see if you can listen to this song. You should be able to find it on iTunes or on YouTube. Tomorrow I will share the lyrics for another song from Go Fish: “It’s about the Cross.”
I pray for you and your family as Christmas gets a closer every day. I am so thankful to God for the gift of His Son!
