Resurrection Power: The Stone Has Been Rolled Away!
The stone was rolled away!
The tomb is empty!
He is not here! HE IS RISEN!
The stone was rolled away!
There is a story about an experiment with fish in an aquarium. Before they put the fish into the aquarium, they put a plate of glass in the middle of the aquarium, and then they put the fish into one side of the divided aquarium. At first, the fish kept swimming into the glass, but they soon adapted and seemed to realize that there was a barrier. After a while, they took the plate of glass out of the middle of the aquarium, but the fish continued to stay on the one side of the aquarium and never ventured over into the side which had been barricaded off but was now available to them.
Soon those conducting the experiment began to put the fish’s food on the side of the aquarium which had been barricaded off, but the fish would not go to the other side even for food. They had become accustomed to the barrier in the middle and would not adapt to the new possibilities and the space which was now available to them on the other side of the aquarium.
When Jesus was resurrected from the dead, everything changed. For all who believe in Jesus as the Son of God who died as the atoning sacrifice for their sin, incredible new potentialities were opened for us!
In Romans 8:11, Paul tells us, 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
In Ephesians 1:19-20, Paul describes it like this: 19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
The stone has been rolled away by the power of God and Jesus is resurrected from the dead, and that same Spirit which did these things now lives in us, and there are now possibilities for us now!!
In Ephesians 3:20,21, Paul says, “20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
All glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work in us – what power is this? The power of the Holy Spirit which is also the same mighty power that raised Jesus from the dead! So now, by this power at work in us, God is able to accomplish more than we might possibly ask or think or imagine!
With all of this in mind in this week following Easter, I have to ask myself, “Am I living in the fullness of what God has provided for me in Jesus?’
This is a pretty challenging question. I honestly don’t feel like I am, especially this week. Help me, Lord Jesus.
What about you? Are you living in the fullness of what God has provided for us in Jesus?
How do we encourage and strengthen one another in this? Perhaps, first of all, we have to be reminded that the barrier has been removed, the veil has been torn in two from top to bottom and the stone has been rolled away! That is what I am hoping to do for us in this blog post!
